It needs a pronounced fold at the posterior commissure, and many people do not have one. Without it the piercing migrates out within months — the most common reason a piercer declines this one.
Jewellery
A curved barbell or small circular, 1.6 mm, 10–12 mm. The curve follows the channel so the ends do not press into tissue.
Healing
4–8 weeks, but friction and stretch mean a longer bar for the first few weeks.
Size and material
| Material | Titanium — 8 models. Contains no nickel, so it causes no reaction even in a fresh piercing. Lighter than steel — less load on the tissue. The material of first choice. 316L steel — 7 models. Cheaper, corrosion-resistant, suitable for a healed piercing. For the first jewellery titanium is the better choice. |
