How it differs from a VCH

The direction of the channel, not the place. A VCH runs vertically; an HCH runs across, so the ring wraps the hood from above.

Jewellery

A ring at 1.6 mm, 8–10 mm across. A straight barbell is not used: the channel curves, and the ends would press into the fold.

Healing

4–8 weeks — among the fastest of all genital piercings.

Size and material

Material	Titanium — 4 models. Contains no nickel, so it causes no reaction even in a fresh piercing. Lighter than steel — less load on the tissue. The material of first choice. 316L steel — 3 models. Cheaper, corrosion-resistant, suitable for a healed piercing. For the first jewellery titanium is the better choice.
Thickness	1.2 mm — 5 models, 1 mm — 4 models, 0.8 mm — 3 models. The thickness must match the one the piercing was made with.
Bar length	10 mm — 6 models, 6 mm — 6 models, 8 mm — 6 models, 12 mm — 4 models. A longer bar is needed while the swelling lasts, a shorter one — for a healed piercing.
Ring diameter	10 mm — 7 models, 8 mm — 7 models, 6 mm — 6 models, 9 mm — 5 models. A smaller diameter sits tighter, a bigger one — looser and more visible.
