Titanium is the metal most often recommended for fresh piercings. It is light, contains no nickel and does not oxidise in contact with lymph, so a reaction to it is rarer than to any alloy.

Why is titanium better than steel?
Titanium is about half the weight and contains no nickel. 316L steel is also fit for wearing, but there is nickel in it, and people sensitive to nickel feel it. For a fresh piercing titanium is the safer choice.
Can titanium be worn all the time?
Yes. Titanium does not oxidise in contact with lymph and does not change colour, so it is not taken off at night or in the shower. The jewellery is worth removing only for cleaning — and only from a healed piercing: a fresh channel is not left empty.
Is 8 mm a length or a diameter?
In this selection it is both: for bars it is the length between the closures, for rings the inner diameter. Which one applies to a given model is stated on its page.
Who is 8 mm too small for?
The navel and nipples — there the bar is 10–14 mm. And the septum, if you want the ring to hang lower: then 10 mm is taken.
