How to choose
A stud is a straight bar with a screw-on top: the classic closure that keeps the jewellery still. That is why it goes into piercings where a ring would get in the way.
Size and material

FAQ
Is a stud suitable for a fresh piercing?
Yes, and it is usually the first one put in. What matters is length with room for swelling and a nickel-free material.
Why does the top of a stud unscrew?
The thread gradually loosens from movement and from rubbing against hair and clothes — that is normal behaviour of any screw-on top, not a defect. So it is checked every few days: hold the disc and tighten the top clockwise. A lost top is a common reason for losing the jewellery.
