Banana barbells with stones
On a stone-set banana the ends are flat bezels rather than balls — a large one at the bottom, a smaller one on top.
Opal, zirconia or crystal
Synthetic opal is matte with an inner shimmer. Cubic zirconia is faceted and the brightest. Crystals add colour but scratch sooner.
About the bezel
A bezel is wider than a ball, so the bar sits lower and catches on a waistband more. For a fresh piercing a plain bar is the safer choice.
Size
1.6 mm, 10 mm long; the bezel is usually 5–8 mm across.
