A circular barbell, or horseshoe, is an open ring with two balls on the ends. The balls unscrew on both sides, and the barbell itself can be turned balls-inward and the piercing almost hidden.

FAQ
Are a circular barbell and a ring the same thing?
No. A ring is closed all the way round, a circular barbell has a gap. That makes it easier to take off and put on, but it sits a little looser, and the balls have to be checked: they unscrew.
Is a circular barbell suitable for a fresh piercing?
Better not. The threaded balls unscrew by themselves, and because of the gap the jewellery moves freely in the channel — in a fresh piercing that is unwanted movement. For the first months a straight barbell or a labret is worn; a circular barbell goes into a healed piercing, and the balls are checked before bed.
Which size should I choose?
The typical size for this zone is 1.2–1.6 mm thick, diameter 8–10 mm. Jewellery smaller than needed presses on the channel, bigger — catches on clothes and hair. The exact size of each model is given on its page.
Why is titanium better than steel?
Titanium is about half the weight and contains no nickel. 316L steel is also fit for wearing, but there is nickel in it, and people sensitive to nickel feel it. For a fresh piercing titanium is the safer choice.
